Success Story: Cancer Biology Scientist – O-1 Visa

Case Summary:

Applicant B planned to apply for an O-1 work visa to join a startup immunotherapy biotechnology company as a research scientist, specializing in tumor-targeting antibodies. Over the past ten-plus years, the applicant had published more than 20 papers in international and national journals, with 400+ cumulative citations. One article from ten years ago was covered by local media. He had also completed 20+ journal peer reviews.

 

Application Strategy:

After carefully reviewing the applicant's materials and conducting in-depth discussions with him, we prepared five claims for Applicant B:

  1. Original major contributions

  2. Service as a judge/peer reviewer in the field

  3. Authorship of scholarly publications

  4. Media coverage

  5. Key/critical role


Six recommendation letters were secured, coming from professors and experts in the field, the applicant's PhD advisor, a former supervisor working at a major pharmaceutical company, and others.

 

Outcome:USCIS approved the O-1A petition 10 days after receiving the application materials.
