H-1B Cap Registration Guide

On March 2, 2021, USCIS’ H-1B cap registration system will open for employers to sign up new accounts. If your company already has an account from last year, there is no need to sign up again, and you can register candidates starting March 9, 2021.

If your company is new to the H-1B cap registration system this year, then as the employer, you need to set up a registrant account. To set up an account, go to https://my.uscis.gov/ and sign up as instructed.

After you create the password and set up the security questions, go to the Account Type page and choose “H-1B Registrant” as your account type. The other choices are not for H-1Bs. After completing the information entry, keep a record of your backup code.

H-1B cap registration opens at noon ET on March 9, 2021 and closes at noon ET on March 25, 2021. All candidates must be registered during this period to be entered in the annual H-1B cap selection lotteries.

If you need an attorney’s assistance in the registration process, DeHeng Law Offices will be happy to assist you in creating the account and registering the candidates starting on March 9, 2021. If you would like to register the candidates on your own, you can following the instructions here and engage us after the lottery result is released in early April.
